A Framework for a Safe, Nurturing, and Stress-Free Learning Environment at Podar Prep and Podar Jumbo Kids.

At Podar Jumbo Kids, our Kiducation philosophy dictates that early childhood education must always be looked at from the point of view of the child. Recognizing that over 85% of cumulative brain development occurs before the age of 6, creating a secure, emotionally safe, and stress-free environment is not just a regulatory requirement, it is the biological foundation for all lifelong learning.

This Child Protection Policy provides all Podar Jumbo Kids centres with clear, actionable standards to ensure the physical, socio-emotional, and digital safety of every child in our care.

1. Core Objectives
  1. To guarantee a zero-tolerance environment for any form of child abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
  2. To cultivate a stress-free learning atmosphere that respects neurodiversity and individual developmental paces.
  3. To empower educators, support teams, and parents to act as active protectors of children’s rights.
2. Code of Conduct for Staff & Support Teams

All centre heads, educators, day-care carers, and support staff strictly adhere to the following behavioural boundaries:

  1. Developmentally Appropriate Interactions: All discipline or as we call it, ‘behaviour management’, is positive and constructive. The use of corporate punishment, shaming, loud shouting, or isolating a child is strictly prohibited.
  2. Physical Boundaries & “Safe Touch”Education:
    1. Staff practice transparent, respectful care routines (e.g., during toilet training or diaper changes in day-care).
    2. Centres actively teach children the “Good Touch vs. Bad Touch” boundaries using age-appropriate stories and the official Podar Jumbo Kids guide.
  3. Inclusive & Equitable Treatment: In alignment with our mascot Jumbo, staff treat all children with equal respect, promoting gender neutrality, open-mindedness, and absolute inclusivity for neurodiverse learners.
  4. No Private One-on-One Zones: Staff must never be alone with a child in an unmonitored or completely closed space. Glass panels on classroom doors and active CCTV monitoring in common areas is mandated.
  5. Mandatory Police Verification: All staff, educators, and support personnel undergo mandatory police verification and background checks prior to appointment, with periodic re-verification during their tenure at the centre.
3. Environmental & Physical Safety Standards
  1. Safe Physical Spaces: All furniture, toys, and outdoor play equipment must be non-toxic, round-edged, and routinely audited for safety hazards.
  2. Sustainable and Non-Toxic Materials: Art and sensory activities (such as Immersive SPA) must exclusively utilize sustainable, non-toxic, and child-safe elements.
  3. Supervision Ratios: Centre heads ensure strict teacher-to-child and carer-to-child ratios are maintained at all times, especially during transition periods, outdoor nature exploration, and snack times.
  4. Fire Drills: Our important emergency drills include:
    1. Mock Fire drill
    2. Mock bus fire drill

Every centre conducts a mandatory these drills every 3 months, along with regular checks of fire extinguishers, emergency exits, and evacuation routes, to keep children and staff prepared for any emergency.

4. CCTV and Photograph Standing
  1. CCTV Coverage: CCTV cameras are installed and actively monitored in all common areas, classrooms, corridors, and outdoor play zones, with the sole exception of washrooms, to protect children’s privacy while ensuring comprehensive safety oversight.
  2. Digital & Media Safety
    1. Non-Screen Environment Compliance: In accordance with our non-screen Coding Curriculum, no personal or centre-owned digital screens (smartphones, tablets, TVs) are to be used as passive entertainment or distraction tools for children.
    2. Strict Photography Consent:
      1. Staff may only photograph children using authorized centre devices for the purpose of documenting their Learning Journey Assessments or Portfolio Books.
      2. No photos may be uploaded to personal social media accounts.
      3. Prior written parental consent is mandatory for any public network showcases.
  3. No Live Streaming: Podar jumbo Kids does not permit live streaming of children during classes, activities, or events, as this infringes on children’s rights and safety and can be misused by others; any sharing of visual content follows the Strict Photography Consent process above.
5. Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Reporting Concerns

If a staff member, parent, or visitor suspects or witnesses a breach of child safety or experiences a disclosure from a child, the following sequence must be initiated immediately:

  1. Immediate Protection & Reassurance: Within minutes
    1. Prioritize the child’s immediate physical and emotional comfort.
    2. Ensure they are in a safe, stress-free space with a trusted adult.
    3. If a child makes a disclosure, listen calmly without cross-examining or prompting answers.
  2. Document the Incident Accurately: Within 2 hours.
    1. The observing staff member must write an objective, factual report detailing what was seen, heard, or observed (including physical marks or behavioural shifts).
    2. Avoid assumptions or personal interpretations.
  3. Escalate to the Centre Head & Child Protection Officer: Within 24 hours.
    1. Submit the formal report to the HO
    2. HO will instantly notify the regional Podar Education Network Child Protection Committee to initiate an internal review.
  4. Statutory Reporting & Parental Partnership:
    1. In consultation with the HO team and in compliance with local laws (such as POCSO guidelines in India), notify the parents immediately unless doing so directly compromises the child’s safety.
    2. Proceed with necessary statutory filings with local authorities.
  5. Whistle blower & Non-Retaliation Policy: Any staff member, parent, or visitor who reports a genuine concern or suspected breach of child safety in good faith is protected from retaliation, victimisation, or any adverse action, and all such reports are handled confidentially.
6. Implementation and Training
  1. Every Podar Jumbo Kids centre must host mandatory, biannual Child Protection and Safe Environment workshops for all staff members, including transport and administrative teams.
  2. Furthermore, parents must be engaged through regular interactive workshops to establish a unified parent-school pact for safeguarding children both at home and at school.
  3. First Aid & CPR Training: All staff members are trained and certified in paediatric first aid and CPR, with refresher training conducted at regular intervals, to ensure immediate and competent emergency response.
  4. Monthly Staff Training & Monitoring: In addition to biannual workshops, centre heads conduct monthly staff training sessions and monitoring reviews to reinforce child protection practices and ensure continued compliance with this policy.
7. Visitor Management Policy
  1. Restricted Access During School Hours: Visitors, vendors, and maintenance personnel are not permitted on the premises during school/centre hours, except for scheduled, per-approved purposes.
  2. Verified Identification: All visitors, including those attending for inquiries or admissions, are issued a security identification card at reception and must wear it visibly at all times while on the premises.
  3. Escorted Movement: No visitor is left unescorted at any point; a designated staff member accompanies every visitor for the entire duration of their visit.
8. Transportation Safety Policy
  1. Vehicle Safety Equipment: All school buses and transport vehicles are equipped with functional CCTV cameras, GPS monitoring for real-time tracking, first-aid kits, and fire extinguishers.
  2. Regular Safety Drills: Bus evacuation and fire safety drills are conducted periodically to prepare children and staff for emergencies during transit.
  3. Trained Bus Attendants: Every vehicle is staffed with a trained bus attendant responsible for the safety and well-being of children throughout the journey.
9. Family Circumstances & Custody Documentation
  1. Legal Documentation: In the case of separated or divorced families, the centre acts strictly in accordance with valid legal documents, such as custody orders or court directives, submitted by the parents/guardians.
  2. Consistent Application: Any restriction on pick-up, drop-off, communication, or access to the child is honoured only when supported by such submitted legal documentation and is updated promptly whenever new orders are provided.
10. Child Empowerment and Awareness Policy
  1. Safety Education: Children are taught, in an age-appropriate manner, how to recognise unsafe situations, seek help, and speak up, building their awareness of personal safety and boundaries.
  2. Panic Alarms in Washrooms: Panic alarms are installed in washrooms so a child can immediately alert a trusted adult if they feel unsafe.
11. Pick-up, Drop-off & Dispersal Safety
  1. Sign-In / Sign-Out Record: A signature-based sign-in and sign-out process is followed every time a child is dropped off at the centre, handed over to bus staff, or picked up, ensuring a verified record of every entry and exit.
  2. Smart Card Verification: Only individuals whose photograph appears on the child’s authorised smart card are permitted to pick up the child; the smart card is checked at every single pick-up, without exception.
  3. Responsibility After Dispersal: Once a child has been handed over to a parent or authorised guardian at the point of pick-up, responsibility for the child’s safety transfers to the parent/guardian.
